When our young and vibrant clients were looking to redesign their home, their primary goal was to make it distinctly their own. The challenge was to strike a balance between traditional charm and contemporary flair, creating a space that was both livable and reflective of their unique tastes. Working within the existing footprint, we updated the kitchen, family room, living room and dining room along with the powder room and two bathrooms upstairs. The rooms were all a comfortable size but under used due to undefined zones and awkward layouts. The eat in kitchen felt small due to heavy cabinetry and a table that was too large for the space. We started with reconfiguring the furniture layouts in the living room and dining room. Our goal was to create inviting and functional areas but not overwhelm the existing architectural details in the home. We wanted to encourage interaction between the living room and dining room and the furniture placement helped with that. A square dining table encourages conversation and a more casual vibe with sophisticated finishes. We eliminated the dual height island in the kitchen and tall upper cabinets that intersected with the countertop. A beautiful slab backsplash combined with white cabinets, wood trim and charcoal base cabinets creates the dynamic look we were after while still ensuring that the space feels bright and warm. A popular reaction to the update is surprise that the kitchen feels so much larger with the new design even though the square footage is the same. The less used living room and dining room are also now a space that our clients enjoy spending time in. Overall, the final design is a testament to the successful integration of traditional and contemporary elements that is both stylish and functional, perfectly aligned with the clients' vision.

"We couldn't be happier with our renovation. Renée and team exceeded our expectations on design including space planning and not only does our home look beautiful it is still practical which was a priority for us. They were very responsive and made the decision making fun. We expanded the scope of the project part way through our reno and they were very accommodating and went above and beyond when we had issues with our home that were unrelated to the project. We highly recommend Two birds design for your home."
